CFC70 Black & White Plus One

Create a Clean And Simple project that is black and white plus one color of your choice.

So many ideas, so little time! I love black and white cards and now is the perfect excuse to make them. Thank you
CAS-ual Fridays!

... a close up of You mean the World 2 me...

I promise you, this is the same piece of paper, I just added the black trim on the top and bottom. It might have been the tilt of my camera. The actual color of the gold is a cross between the two pictures.

I used this old world map stamp from Inkadinkado and black embossing powder. Then, as luck would have it, for the sentiment, I just learned this new (new to me) technique of embossing and stamping onto the embossed area. I only learned how to do this on friday from Stampin Up Demonstrator, Robin Greer.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

CAS-ual Fridays Banners & Flags

This is a quick post because of so many reasons...
I have thought about this card for weeks. A neighbors son has come home from duty and I wanted to give him a card. I hope this will be nice enough. He is a great kid and I am thankful for his courage and commitment to our country.

CAS-ual Fridays has a great challenge for banners and flags. Stop by and see all there is to see at CAS-ual Fridays!

Make it Monday Challenge

Make It Monday #79: Fabric Die Cuts

Melissa Phillips knew what she was talking about when she made her video about using fabric and diecuts. So easy with the adhesive spray...trust me, I tried it without spray and it wasn't pretty. Adding texture to your card really makes the card, in my opinion.

I used material from a pair of shorts that I made for my daughter when she was two. She is twenty-two now. I am blessed to have her in my life. I know she will love this card. She lives 800 miles away from us for her new job... this goes in the mail first thing in the morning!

Papertrey Ink Challenge - Autumn Textiles

The-Challenge
Blog-hop-2

So excited to get this card in just in time...

Working with textiles can be a challenge in itself! I loved the video about putting the cloth on card stock with adhesive spray and then using the dies. I can't wait to make a ton of cards using that method. Smelly but fun!

I am loving all my new Papertrey Ink goodies that my girlfriend ordered for me. We enjoyed talking about the newest release and what we wanted. It came just in time for me to make this card. Yay! She even surprised me with some Papertrey Ink!

I am so THANKFUL for this friend! :~)

My laptop is about to die so I will come back and list my supplies... Papertrey etc...

CAS-ual Fridays #61

Huge surprise to me that I am back today for another challenge, especially since I am leaving tomorrow on a road trip to Chicago. Long, happy, sad story... have my first daughter, daughter grows up, she goes to college, we move away from that college, she stays at the college, she graduates from college and finds a wonderful job near her college. So I am happy for her success and so very proud of the wonderful job she will be starting as a pediatric nurse. I am so sad she is getting an apartment 800 miles away from us. Couldn't she commute?

The challenge this week is to use strips of colors or pattern in your Clean and Simple Design. I just so happened to have rub-on's by K&Company. I have never used rub-on's on a card but I loved how easy it was to do. (I feel I cheated a little bit.) I also didn't make a card but a little note pad for my daughter to leave on her bookcase at the door in her apartment. She can use it for making little notes or for her shopping list. The colors match the vase we bought for the bookcase.

I made the cover from two pieces of card stock so it is nice and firm and wrapped it around the tablet.
Maybe she will drop me a note in the mail?!?!

I cried when I made this for her. Haha - no surprise. She is my love. I am happy that she has succeeded so far in life. I am glad that I can help her move, starting tomorrow. I guess I have been helping her move for years.  : (

Christmas In July (sorry- I was even humming Christmas songs)

I have to confess, the second I started making this card, I started humming a Christmas carol. I immediately realized that I had to stop at one card or I'd be playing Christmas songs on my play list. But, it did get me in the mood for Christmas. Here's my card....

I tried to meet Jay Gee's Nook Challenge by keeping the card crisp and clean like the photograph of the headboard. That is a beautiful headboard! I used Papertrey white Card stock and also the Papertrey Mehndi Medallion Stamp Set. It is embossed with opaque embossing powder.

Little Red Wagon just wanted a lovely Christmas card ... so easy to add the SU sentiment, embossed with Ranger silver embossing powder. I used the two punches to give it a nice layered look when I popped it up. Adding the bling just gives it a little sparkle for the holiday.

Over at The Craft's Meow they had a sketch to follow. I did my best to follow the sketch by using the medallion and then having the sentiment coming off to the side. I went pretty CAS with this card.

These are the links to the three challenges, Great ideas at all three blogs. I enjoyed viewing the DT's cards. Stop by and take a look.

Casual Friday Challenge Card 2

CFC60 USE TEXT IN YOUR CLEAN AND SIMPLE DESIGN

So, I am back with my second card for CAS-ual Friday. This card idea has been floating around in my head for months, sans the text inside the letters. This morning I thought it would look pretty neat if the text were in each letter. I was going to make the heart smaller but when I cut this heart out I loved what words, and parts of words, showed up... crosswords, horoscopes, weather, gossip, food, reviews of movies. I had to leave the heart the size it was and send the card to my girlfriend. She does so much for others and she never gets much thanks.

I used SU black Cardstock and newspaper print paper.

Wine and Jennifer Rzasa

Jennifer Rzasa had adorable wine charms over on her blog. You can click here to see them. I am moving my daughter 800 miles away next week to start her new life as a nurse - she just graduated from college. She has been away for the last four years but this seems so final. So, I decided to make her a little gift that had pictures of things that remind me of her. And every time she has a glass of wine she can think of me... right.

I used a sheet of shrink film, punched a 2 1/2" circle, and punched a small circle in that so I could put a ring on it after I shrunk it. Then I took the 2 1/2" circle and stamped it with a design using StazOn Black Ink Pad. I than colored it with permanent markers. This one is an old Stampin Up stamp with a little girl in overalls tending a garden. My girls always wore cute little overalls - I put Kate's name on it, the name of her new hometown, and "est. July 2012". It came out so cute. They shrink down to about 1" in size. I made 8 wine charms for her.

Cats, sending her kisses, and St. Pat's Day...

...Believe, KKG and a key, a tree, and Mowgli, of course.

Today we were downtown Philadelphia in this cute little wine shop. They had this adorable 'can' of wine called Red Barn. Taste delicious and is from a local winery called Paradocx Vineyard. The can of paint wine comes with a paint stirrer that says
PAINT THE TOWN RESPONSIBLY.
I just love the whole marketing idea that they went with for this wine.

Runway Inspired Challenge #15

There is a new Runway Challenge - you can check it out at ric#15 - Lacoste. And, not to disappoint the DT over at RIC, I looked at the other outfits that Lasoste has out this season. I grew up with Lacoste shirts and belts and I just needed to see what else was on the runway. WOW - rugby dresses - I don't think I have ever had the figure for a rugby dress. They sure were cute though!

And my plaid dress-wearing turtle card:

I even painted her nails cause that's how she rolls... or walks real slow!

Embellish Color Challenge - Tea Party

So this challenge is the Embellish Color Challenge - Tea Party. And you have to incorporate some type of tea product in your card. A pot, cup, bag ... and the colors that they show below.

I knew I had a stamp to fill the bill for this challenge, it was just a matter of pulling it out and dusting it off. I think the Stampin Up set, Nice and Easy, is circa 1996. I hope it is okay to enter a challenge with stamps that are that old... haha.

I love teapots. My favorite gift from my Dad was a teapot. I treasure it and use it often. And, having three daughters, they all had tea sets and many tea parties. ....But this was the only stamp I could come up with? Ugh - what is wrong with me?

I used my Copic Markers to color the stamp in and wished there was a bit more detail to color. I love using my markers. I popped up the tea set and the sentiment with the ribbon underneath.

Make It Monday #73: Stamping on Patterned Paper

Well I wanted to make a bunch of thank you cards today so I decided to do it by way of any challenges that were going on this week. I just grabbed my cup of coffee and let the challenges begin...

Make It Monday #73: Stamping on Patterned Paper

So the Make It Monday #73: Stamping on Patterned Paper  challenge over at Papertrey Ink was a bit out of my comfort zone. Not stamping on a clean slate?  I guess that is why they call it a challenge.

I decided to use a long card, 7 1/2 inches, because the sentiment was long and I liked how it looked on that length of card stock. I stamped it on the patterned paper and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.

This is the first time I have made a card this length so I lined the envelope with the same patterned paper to add a little something extra.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Cardstock: PTI - white - I'll say it again - - love this paper! /  Stampin Up - Melon Mambo
Patterned Paper: Colorbok
Stamps: Inkadinkado
Ink: Stampin Up - Melon Mambo
Embossing Powder: Recollections Clear Embossing Powder

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

I happened upon this challenge, I love this color combo, I love Papertrey Ink, and the challenge closes in a couple hours. I love a good challenge!  (haha) It's the  Papertrey Ink May 2012 Blog Hop and I am glad I was able to get my card done in time to be part of this fun event.

And in the words of Nichole at Papertrey the challenge is: "This months inspiration is a unique color scheme that has been popping up everywhere this spring.  A bright green (Simply Chartreuse or New Leaf) paired with bold black & white patterns.  Think gingham, argyle, checks or stripes.  Really mix things up and enjoy the creative process!"

So, my card is pretty much CAS and I used Papertrey white card stock. I love how the ink looks on this paper. It is beautiful and just soaks in perfectly. I also used Papertrey Mehndi Medallion Stamp Set. The green ink is Stampin Up as is the matching ribbon. The sentiment is from SU as well.

Runway Inspired Challenge #12 Card 2

I made two more cards for the Runway Challenge - you can check it out at RIC#12 - Tsumori Chisato.

I made these two thank you cards and I love how they turned out. I even embossed some white card stock for inside the card, just a tiny piece of the corner so it tied into the front of the card. It looked so cute. I forgot to take a picture and they are already in the mail. This card was so easy to make and I think I will make a set like this for my mother-in-law for her birthday.
I like the colorful ribbon on the first card because it is kind of like the burst of color at the top of her dress...

...and with just a softer ribbon.

Runway Inspired Challenge #12 CARDS

Another Runway Challenge - you can see all the wonderful DT cards at ric#12 - Tsumori Chisato and of course the inspiration is this wonderful runway model:

source: style.com

So, what's a gal to do? I see butterfly wings. I see coral, a smidge of soft green, and a smidge yellow. Now, I do see other colors but I am stopping at those three.
I'd love to get a close up of her shoes - they seem a little funky. So I went to Style's site and looked at all the models in this particular fashion show. All the shoes were funky!
You can see it here and judge for yourself!

And now this is the cards I made:

I actually punched through the whole card and then when I backed the card with card stock I tucked in the coral for one butterfly and yellow for another.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look. Have an enjoyable weekend.
