Thinking of my friend

This is one of my favorite stamps from SU - 'Because I Care' set. There is so much detail in the flower and I think it is such an old fashion flower. I embossed the flower and then used this ribbon because of the white and old olive running through it. I made a flat bow and used a silver brad to hold it together. I stamped the sentiment with SU Rich Razzleberry. It was a perfect match for the color in the ribbon. I am sending it to my dear friend in Chicago. She is missing her son who would be a senior in high school. We usually go to lunch this week because it is his anniversary. I see on Facebook that her other friends are keeping her busy... so glad to see that. She is a great friend to all and I miss seeing her.

Just Smile

Yes, I would love to enter this challenge...and I even stayed up late tonight making a card. But, first, I think the colors are a bit off. And, second, when I take a picture, the words are backwards and I can't flip the picture on my mac. Now that I have the two of you following me I am so excited. I feel like I don't need to win anything else this year! Here is the card I made tonight...

I used the camera on my Mac because my phone died. And if you are wondering what it says...    SMILE   (I'm not).

So, I just retook the picture today and ...

I turned my frown upside down! I see a big difference in the colors of the card because of the background and the lighting. The green is much softer than it looks in the picture.  Needless to say, I am not entering the contest. I am not even sure how to describe the things I am doing but, I did find this on the info page about the Blogger site in general:
<a href="http://blogger.com/" title="BLOGGER"><img src="http://buttons.blogger.com/bloggerbutton1.gif" /></a>

And, boy was that disappointing! It was supposed to show up as a button that said
"Power Blogger".
Haha - I'll see if I can put it somewhere else on my page.

Owl on a limb...

Ok, so the paper I used here is really cool with pretty fall colors and small splashes of gold. I picked up these colors in the background paper with the boarder paper, the owl, and the leaves. Then I used a SU stamp of a branch and embossed it with gold embossing powder so the owl would have a perfect perch!

Happy Birthday to my friend...but, not with this card! I made this card last night for my friend but, my daughter saw it this morning and said it was nice...just not good enough for our dear friend! I love the purple, brown, and green together. I used the fiskar crimper for the brown paper. I used two small embossing cards for "HB" and the birthday cake and ran them through the cuddlebug with vanilla paper. I had the ribbon to 'tie' it all together. Guess who got the card??? My daughter's best friend - she turns 16 tomorrow!
Happy Birthday Lindsey!
...and the card for MY friend? I made it today and I am very pleased with it. My friend is the only one to read this blog so, I can't post the card till after her birthday.

I wanted to make this card because I saw this stamp set being used in a magazine with the polka dot paper. I wanted a card that I could use for a boy or girl --- black and gray, I think, does the trick. I embossed the black card stock first to add some texture and lifted the b off the card. I really like this stamp set from SU.

This is the first card I am posting on here. (Not the first card I have made.) It took me forever to make. I needed it to be just right because it was for my daughter Kaitlin. She is a Senior in college and she is in Kappa Kappa Gamma. I wanted to give her a card to congratulate her on how hard she is working in her final year of nursing. I had alot of input from my stamping friends - Ginny and Cathy. 'It takes a village to raise a card'...at least this card!
